Mentor Relations Associate

The Mentor Relations Associate (MRA) reports to the Mentor Experience Manager and works in collaboration with the Mentoring Program Administrator and Program Director to help recruit, screen, train, assist in matching mentors and mentees, and manage mentors for SPEAK Mentorship Program. The MRA will correspond with potential and current mentors via email, will support the mentor screening and training process, will assist with the development of training and outreach materials, and will organize and maintain important and sensitive records. The MRA may also be asked to assist with research and partner outreach when necessary.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or received a BA in a relevant area 

  • Effective and consistent communicator, and highly organized and efficient

  • Excellent verbal, written, and editing skills with an exceptional attention to detail

  • Highly skilled at developing interpersonal relationships with individuals of different backgrounds and ages at various stages of their lives and having varying levels involvement with the organization

  • Technologically proficient especial in Google Suite, Microsoft Suite, and willing to learn new tech. platforms

  • Strong project management skills managing complex, multifaceted projects resulting in measurable successes and program growth

  • Proven ability to assess and adapt to changing priorities, and take initiative in a fast paced start-up environment

  • Demonstrated problem solving skills, flexible approach to overcoming obstacles

  • Friendly and approachable demeanor and ability to speak and represent the organization at all times

Mentoring Program Administrator

Mentoring Program Administrator (MPA) plays a key role in the delivery of SPEAK Mentorship's Mentoring Program. The MPA is often the first point of contact for parents, mentees, and school administrative staff. This position must possess excellent communication and organizational skills. SPEAK Mentorship works on building a network of support for girls and women of immigrant and first-generation American backgrounds, and the MPA must always ensure all individuals feel they are included and supported within the SPEAK network.

The MPA will oversee Mentor Connectors, college students, local to the site schools who will assist in delivering the program in person at the site schools.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of a BA, MA preferred, in a relevant area

  • Experience working with young adults required

  • 2 years of experience in a program administrator role preferred

  • Start-up and nonprofit experience a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details

  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, and a commitment to and passion for SPEAK Mentorship’s mission

  • Highly organized and self-motivated

  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects with attention to detail, handle interruptions, maintain focus on tasks and produce accurate work in a fast-paced environment and under deadline pressure.

  • Strong problem solving skills

  • Ability to work a flexible schedule including occasional weekends, evenings, and holidays as needed.

 

Communications Associate

Communications Associate (CoAs) helps channel the voice and public image of SPEAK Mentorship. The CoAs gathers pertinent information from within the organization or relevant external information to our mission, and communicates relevant and necessary information through various channels to various audiences to help promote the work of SPEAK Mentorship. The CoAs also assists in developing and implementing our social media strategy to increase our followers on all of our social media and to engage them across channels, ultimately having them interact with us to build our mentor network, further our reach, or identify funding opportunities that help us sustain our work. Part of the responsibilities will include reaching out to individuals whom we can highlight through our social media, and possibly our monthly outreach efforts to different audiences, getting their buy-in to be highlighted and to join our growing network of women and supporters.

Qualifications

  • Pursuing or pursued degree in relevant area

  • 2 years of experience in communications/social media preferred

  • Mailchimp or newsletter experience preferred

  • Strong understanding and familiarity of social media channels and experience creating a strategy to grow audience numbers and a content story

  • Start-up and nonprofit experience a plus

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills with exceptional attention to details

Speaker Series Administrator

Speaker Series Administrator (SSA) is integral to the operations of our Speaker Series program. The position of SSA ensures all effective communication and coordination of the Speaker Series program. The SSA ensures the organization is meeting its Speaker Series programming goals, and developing and leveraging the Speaker Series program in other areas of the organization, including facilitating ‘Empowerment Courses’, part of our international work. The SSA will engage all speakers in the cohort, ensuring speakers are informed of all events, prepared for their individual events, and provided with accurate and timely assistance and information. The SSA must be a self-starter, self-motivated, highly effective communicator, and contributor to the larger organizational goals.

Ambassador Development Associate

Ambassador Development Associate provides the leadership training to our Ambassadors. They meet virtually with all of our Ambassadors and SPEAK Chapter Club E-Boards to help them develop their skills as leaders across different contexts. We are looking for a college student or a recent graduate who has had leadership skill in high school and college settings, and can transfer relevant skills to our young leaders.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with youth

  • Experience working in remote settings

  • Start-up and nonprofit experience a plus

  • Technologically proficient

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Publisher, Power Point) and Google Suite

Mentor Connector

Mentor Connector is a critical position to the success of our mentoring program. Mentor Connectors guide and support the mentoring relationship between mentees and mentors, and we seek ambitious, passionate, and driven college individuals to fulfill the role of Mentor Connector. We are seeking 8 Mentor Connectors for the 2019 - 2020 school year.
